Beschreibung
The Polish national anthem, also known as the "Mazurek Dąbrowskiego" (Polish: "Mazurek Dąbrowskiego", also "Dombrowski's March"), is one of the official symbols of Poland, probably written by Józef Wybicki in 1797. Initial name - "Song of the Polish Legions in Italy" (Polish "Pieśń Legionów Polskich we Włoszech"). Outside of Poland, the most famous first line is "Jeszcze Polska nie zginęła" ("Poland is not dead yet"), which is often mistaken for the Polish national motto.
History of the anthem:
The Commonwealth disappeared from the political map of Europe as a result of the third partition of 1795, carried out by the Russian Empire, Prussia and the Austrian Empire. In 1797, Lieutenant General Prince Jan Henrik Dombrowski, with the permission of Napoleon Bonaparte, created in Italy from those who were forced to leave their homeland as a result of the partition of the Commonwealth Polish Legions, which Dombrowski planned to invade Poland and regain independence. The song was first performed on July 20 by a military orchestra in the rhythm of a mazurka to a Polish folk tune. Some sources attribute the music of the anthem to Michał Kleofas Ogiński. On February 26, 1927, the Dombrowski March became the national anthem of Poland.
Arrangement for guitar by Andrey Shilov.
