Описание
The author of the music is Mykhailo Mykhailovych Verbytsky (March 4, 1815 - December 7, 1870) - composer, public figure, priest. The creation of the Ukrainian anthem dates back to the autumn of 1862, when at a party with Pavel Chubynsky, a Ukrainian ethnographer, folklorist and poet, Serbian students at the University of Kiev sang a patriotic song mentioning Tsar Dusan and chanting " the heart beats and the blood beats for its freedom ”(or“ the Serb beats and the blood beats for its freedom… ”). Chubinsky liked the song very much, and he suddenly went to another room, and half an hour later he left with the finished text of the song "Ukraine is not dead yet", which
immediately sang to the Serbian motif. Some researchers believe that the writing was also influenced by the motifs of the mazurka
"Jeszcze Polska nie zgineła…", which later became the Polish anthem.
The first publication of a poem by Pavel Chubynsky - in the Lviv magazine "Meta", 1863, № 4. Having been distributed on
In Western Ukraine, the poem did not escape the attention of religious figures of the time. One of them, Father Mykhailo (Verbytsky), a famous composer of his time, fascinated by the poem by Pavel Chubynsky, wrote music for him. First published
with notes - in 1865. It was first used as the national anthem in 1917.
In 1917–1920, “Ukraine is not dead yet” was not legally approved as the only national anthem, and other anthems were used.
In 1939, "Ukraine is not dead yet" was approved as the anthem of Carpathian Ukraine.
When it was decided in the Soviet Union to create a separate anthem for each country in its composition, the poem "Ukraine is not dead yet" was rejected as an option so as not to provoke separatist sentiments among Ukrainians.
On January 15, 1992, the music version of the National Anthem was officially approved by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which was reflected in the Constitution of Ukraine. Only on March 6, 2003, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed the Law "On the National Anthem of Ukraine", which approved the words of the anthem.
